Born from Above
Saturday, April 5th, 2008He (Jesus) was born in a stable, and it is a debatable question to ask if He will come and have an advent in any person, except in that same way. He will not enter through any other door but the lowliest door, coming in as the Highest. So if we try to open a door to Him from the level of our own superiority or self-esteem, as if we deserve a visitation, He simply will not come. He will only come into a stable, the lowliest place. His advent is a paradigm and a pattern. It is a statement, not just once but always.
A Message for the Nations
Friday, April 4th, 2008“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world and all who live in it (Psalms 24:1). How blessed are the people whose God is the Lord (Psalms 144:15).” It is remarkable, when one reflects upon it, how little deference or consideration is given to God by the nations as nations. Somehow their […]
Beyond Categories
Wednesday, March 26th, 2008The Lord is looking for a virginal first-fruits company that will follow the Lamb withersoever He goes, and in these last days, this ‘withersoever’ is going to bring us to places we never could have imagined and where we ourselves would balk, like Peter when he said, “Let this be far from You, Lord.”
Israel and the Apocalypse: A Key of Interpretation
Tuesday, March 25th, 2008With the message of Israel, my inmost being is called into participation of a radical kind as it brings a corrective against soulish counterfeits and lesser alternatives in the earnestness of what is at stake.
On Denying Reality: A Formula for Madness
Monday, March 24th, 2008From the perspective of faith, that is, seeing things as God sees them, the denial of Christ, [His Advent, Crucifixion, Resurrection and Ascension] nay, the unwillingness to grant Him even scant attention, has got to be the greatest anomaly of all times.
The Nations in Relation to God
Monday, March 24th, 2008We are all familiar with the Scripture, “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, and the nations and those that dwell therein.” We have quoted this Scripture many times, but we have not really believed it, and have therefore allowed the nations to indulge themselves in their independence as if they have no obligation to God.
Paul on the Road to Damascus
Friday, March 21st, 2008The Fountainhead of Paul’s Gospel and the Genius of Apostolic
Naïveté: The Tragic Beheading of Nicholas Berg
Thursday, March 20th, 2008In essence, what cost an individual his head and life, a naïve idealism totally unrelated to the historic realities of the Arab-Islamic world, may corporately cost the USA the same. If we continue to reject the truth of God and of man as revealed in Scripture, and in God crucified, our every consideration is warped and awry
Critiquing the Visions of the Last Days
Wednesday, March 19th, 2008It is only with some reluctance that we are responding to a request (2004) to give an evaluation of two videos we have been given to consider that have to do with an End Time vision of judgment upon America – given by prominent American ministers of the gospel.
On Witnessing to Jews
Tuesday, March 18th, 2008Some Do’s and Don’ts in bringing the gospel to the Jewish people.
Messianic Conference Report: The Morning After
Monday, March 17th, 2008Again, I had the strange sense of being entirely “out of it” in the midst of a whole congregation, mostly women, greatly moved to dance in the aisles and on the platform. They were playing loud, recorded Israeli-type music whose lyrics were shown overhead. Meanwhile the kippur and tallis-wearing ‘rabbi’ intones appropriate solemnities and incitements […]
Opposing Views on the Death of Jesus
Friday, March 14th, 2008Are they aware that in the process of denial in dismissing the veracity of the gospels, they are in one fell swoop negating the creed of hundreds of millions who have predicated their faith [its suffering, sacrifice, and martyrdom] on just that basis?
In the Year of King Uzziah’s Death
Thursday, March 13th, 2008The present state of Israel, like the “prophet mighty in word and deed,” like King Uzziah himself, is God-given, but given in order to be taken away!
Deep Calling Unto Deep
Wednesday, March 12th, 2008I have long suspected that the deepest issues that are at the root of strife and division in the Body of Christ are not at the level of doctrine. Doctrine is often employed as the subterfuge beneath which the real issues of fear, insecurity and mistrust are too often concealed.
On Atonement
Tuesday, March 11th, 2008In view of Leviticus 17:11, ought we not, as Jews, to consider that, “without the shedding of blood there is no remission for sin”?
Counsel to a Distressed Wife
Monday, March 10th, 2008From a letter of counsel for a wife in time of distress and estrangement from her spouse. I suspect that there are circumstances in your past that affect how you perceive things that could exaggerate your fears and heighten your insecurity. That is true for all of us. Over a process of time, the Lord […]
The Arab and the Jew
Friday, March 7th, 2008The present crisis in Israel must be seen in the context of biblical understanding. It is the drama of a Jacob people called to be the Isra-el of God so as to bless all the families of the earth.
Mt. Sinai versus the Cross of Christ
Thursday, March 6th, 2008God’s revelation of Himself and the giving of the Law at Sinai was a history-shaping occurrence. However, in our insistence upon confining Him to Sinai, are we not again guilty of limiting the Holy One of Israel? Should our well-meaning defending of His Name and interests be founded solely on this revelation? Why refuse to think of Him other than in images that are convenient or congruent to our life-style? This would be the ultimate idolatry, ironically, in the name of rejecting idolatry!
Reclaiming the Gospel
Wednesday, March 5th, 2008The very reduction of Paul’s glorious gospel to a formula for salvation to those who “accept” the Lord almost assures that what will follow will itself be nominal and fall short of the light of the glory which Paul proclaims.
The Ministerial Mystique
Tuesday, March 4th, 2008One of the greatest dangers facing anyone in ministry for the Lord, be it a worship leader, a pastor, a missionary, a Sunday school teacher, is that an unconscious affectation can creep in unnoticed. It is where a person takes on a style or role that they have adopted for themselves over a course of time.
